When we get more stuff ... this is where we will put it.

Until then ... enjoy these ideas from the Festival.

Literacy is like water.
It goes everywhere ... It is very important.
Like water, sometimes it goes underground and you can’t see it
but it’s flowing all the time.

Kerrie, a literacy learner
(excerpted from Exploring Learners’ Perspectives on Progress
- see the 2006 newsletter on our publications page)

We learn through kindness.
Nancy Cooper, a literacy worker

Love
Czeslaw Milosz, a poet

Love means to learn to look at yourself
The way one looks at distant things
For you are only one thing among many.
And whoever sees that way heals his heart,
Without knowing it, from various ills –
A bird and a tree say to him: Friend.

Then he wants to use himself and things
So that they stand in a glow of ripeness.
It doesn’t matter whether he knows what he serves:
Who serves best doesn’t always
understand.
