Recording the Podcasts

Talking to Nadine & Susan was recorded in a studio room at OISE/UT with help of Jim Moore, an audio technician. We recorded it into Garage Band using three microphones - one for each participant. The room had some sound proofing. We had excellent sound on this recording.

Talking to Anne & Dee was recorded on an analog tape recorder. The tape was sent to OISE and Jim converted it to a digital file. The sound quality was not too bad. There was a high pitched clinking sounds and some hiss. We worked with the instrument settings to reduce the clink and hiss as much as possible.

Talking to Fran & Judi was in a huge, cavernous room with quite a bit of background noise. We recorded into Garage Band using one microphone. The sound quality was not quite poor. There was a pronounced echo, some hiss and the volume levels were inconsistent. We worked with the instrument settings to reduce the echo and hiss as much as possible. We worked with the volume settings but the volume of this cast is lower than the others.
